Pillowcase Project – Years 3 & 4

August 1, 2022, 09:00 - August 1, 2022, 03:00

Our Years 3 and 4 students will be participating in the pillowcase project on Monday 1 August. The Pillowcase Project is an emergency resilience education program designed to help build Year 3 and 4 students knowledge and capacity in emergency preparedness.  It has been developed by Red Cross staff and volunteers, the lesson encourages students to be active participants in their own emergency preparedness. It is fun and interactive as well as informative. The interactive lesson has been developed with links to the WA curriculum and includes:

  • a discussion about the importance of being prepared;
  • an activity demonstrating how to prepare one’s mind for the feelings and emotions that may arise before, during and after an emergency; and
  • an activity considering what to pack in an emergency kit.
Each student is then given a pillowcase to decorate and take home, to start their own personal emergency kit.
